The closest resemblance is a ring topology, meaning the can bus forms a ring around the vehicle and the devices are daisy chained one to the next. Same idea here, except it's proprietary (to an extent). Think of it like a computer network, you plug your laptop in at work and suddenly you can print to the printer, browse the web, or even send your coworker cat pictures. It’s made such a huge difference in enjoyment driving that runner. A few months back I installed an Alpine wireless CarPlay unit in our 2014 4runner because the entune unit was totally freaking out. I’m even tempted to try one of those huge tesla style units. I plan on replacing entune with something from Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood anyway. Not much fun when it starts dialing random contacts without you knowing.ĭoesn’t really bother me much. This entune unit still works better than the SYNC garbage that was in my ford.
That’s where it’s at these days but I know that’ll never happen. I really wish Toyota would come out with a major update/upgrade that would give us Carplay/Android Auto. It’s easier to get it working through the phone but still a pain in the ass sometimes. It was more of a hassle to get the pandora working through entune than it’s worth anyway.
I bought a wire with the correct pin from to allow me to just plug the reverse wire into my connector, they also have a lot of Toyota wiring harness and info about the backup camera.Well, that’s kind of crappy but I only use the entune navigation (rarely) out of everything on there anyway. You can check it with a voltmeter to see if you have 12 volts present in reverse and nothing when you are not in reverse. It is also in the driver’s side kick panel, but it was easier to locate at the fuse panel location.

I can play music from my iphone either through Bluetooth or usb. This radio comes with XM built in, HD radio, navigation and Entune. Overall all this was a very easy install and I love the factory look. Everything plugged up, the only thing that did not was the reverse wire for my backup camera. These radios came in the 2012-2013 Corollas. I just installed a factory Toyota Entune radio from a 2013 Corolla into my 2006 non JBL 4Runner.
